The Eastside Catholic Crusaders will challenge the Garfield Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastside Catholic has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 31.
On Thursday, Eastside Catholic came up short against Newport - Bellevue and fell 12-8.
Maicey Woolston was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those triples were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Julian Crawford, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Garfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Nathan Hale an 8-0 shutout on Friday.
The team relied heavily on Sula Yogi-Adams, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Joie Cunningham, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Garfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nathan Hale only posted an OBP of .231.
Garfield's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Eastside Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Eastside Catholic might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Garfield in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Crusaders have more luck at home instead of on the road?
