The Apex Cougars will face off against the Willow Spring Storm at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Apex took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over Cary. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Imps: they've now won seven in a row.

Leah Kendall was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Blakely Sellers was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Kendall wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Apex lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. Apex is a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Willow Spring). Their pitchers stepped up to hand South Garner an 18-0 shutout on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Storm sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Savannah Callis looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Willow Spring let Abby Howard and Lynlee Ogburn run wild. Howard went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ogburn scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Howard is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Carly Simon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Willow Spring pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Apex, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Apex hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Willow Spring struggles in that department as they've averaged .420. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
