Creswell hasn't had much luck against La Pine recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Hawks at 2:00 p.m. Creswell is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Creswell will bounce into Friday's match after beating Pleasant Hill, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bulldogs walked away with a 6-1 win over the Billies on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when La Pine faced off against Elmira on Tuesday. The Hawks blew past the Falcons 10-4. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Riley Flack made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because La Pine is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise. Flack was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, La Pine let Dayton Wilkinson and Jesse Hanner run wild. Wilkinson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Hanner got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. La Pine is 4-1 when Wilkinson posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Adams, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
La Pine is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Creswell, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Creswell was able to grind out a solid victory over La Pine when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 7-3. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
