The Maryvale Panthers and the Camelback Spartans will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Maryvale is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.
Last Thursday, Maryvale came up short against Carl Hayden Community and fell 39-31.
Camelback suffered their biggest defeat since November 21, 2023 on Thursday. They were dealt a 59-21 defeat at the hands of North. Camelback was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-6.
Despite the defeat, Camelback had strong showings from Emerance Hogoza, who scored six points along with six steals, and Jada Rosado, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Maryvale's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-13. As for Camelback, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Maryvale, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-44 loss to Camelback in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Maryvale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
