Moapa Valley has gone a perfect 4-0 against Canyon Springs recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Pirates will face off against the Pioneers at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Monday, Moapa Valley made easy work of Mater Academy East Las Vegas and carried off a 10-2 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Logan Schouten and Lachlan Stephenson were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Schouten pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Stephenson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Schouten got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Stephenson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Stephenson a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyson Pettingill, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Moapa Valley is 8-3 when Pettingill posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Christopher Kohntopp, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Canyon Springs can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus as they made off with a 16-1 victory.
Like Moapa Valley, Canyon Springs also got a great game from a two-way player: Caleb Worthy. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Worthy was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, Canyon Springs let Jahir Colmenares and JJ Johnson run wild. Colmenares went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Johnson went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Isaiah Rogers was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one double.
Moapa Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon Springs, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 4-12.
Canyon Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Moapa Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Canyon Springs, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Moapa Valley keep running through batters, or will the Pioneers buck the trend?
