The Pigeon Forge Tigers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 49-0 defeat at the hands of Gatlinburg-Pittman. While losing is never fun, Pigeon Forge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Gatlinburg-Pittman is ranked 113th).
Gatlinburg-Pittman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tegan Avera, who picked up 88 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Jaden Jones, who gained 113 total yards and two touchdowns.
Pigeon Forge's loss was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-3 Chuckey-Doak and 6-3 Northview Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.8% over those games). As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, the win was the sixth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Pigeon Forge will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Claiborne at 7:00 p.m. Claiborne is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they will head out on the road to face off against Chuckey-Doak at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
