Lake Mary hasn't had much luck against Hagerty recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Lake Mary will square off against Hagerty at 7:00 p.m.
Lake Mary is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Timber Creek.
Addi Novitchkov made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Avery Ashford also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Even though they lost, Lake Mary hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hagerty). Everything went their way against Lyman two weeks ago as Hagerty made off with a 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Alexis Williamson was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Ella Verne looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024.
Back at the plate, Hagerty got a massive performance out of Alexis Felker, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Felker has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Roman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Hagerty pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Mary, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Lake Mary couldn't quite finish off Hagerty in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can Lake Mary avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
