Triton is 8-2 against Western Harnett since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hawks will challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Triton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Triton will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Harnett Central on Thursday. The Hawks walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Trojans. The game was the first time the Hawks have beaten the Trojans on their field since April 27, 2023.
Brayden Bates was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Triton is 5-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise. Bates was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Sewell, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Triton is 5-1 when Sewell posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Alan Hinson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Triton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Western Harnett waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Golden Bulls as they made off with an 18-1 win.
Like Triton, Western Harnett also got a great game from a two-way player: Braylen Wright. Throwing, Wright pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bryson Pope struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Wright has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Wright went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Pope scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three hits gave Wright a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lawton Hickman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jackson Adams also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
The victory made it two in a row for Triton and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Western Harnett, their record is now 5-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Triton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Western Harnett struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Triton beat Western Harnett 5-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
