After a string of five wins, the Washington Blue Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They lost to Miami Trace on the road by a decisive 65-50 margin. Washington was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Miami Trace apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
Several Blue Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Garrett Rickman, who scored 19 points. Isaiah Haithcock was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Washington's defeat ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1. As for Miami Trace, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will finish 2023 at home by hosting Lynchburg-Clay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lynchburg-Clay will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 549th, while Washington is ranked 177th). As for Miami Trace, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Greeneview at 8:30 p.m. on December 28th.
