Whitko extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-3 in the process. They came up short against the Maconaquah Braves, falling 13-6. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Braves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Crew Ebbinghouse put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Breyden Kirkdorffer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Easton Grable was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Maconaquah, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Maconaquah's side, Deven Mitchell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Bennett Isenburg was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and four RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Gochenhour, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitko will challenge Lewis Cass at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Maconaquah, they will take on Wabash at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves are facing the Apaches at the right time seeing as the Apaches are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
