Basketball Recap: South Aiken Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

If Gilbert wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played South Aiken, they should've done a better job of containing Deon Simpkins. Everything went the South Aiken Thoroughbreds' way against the Gilbert Indians on Friday as the South Aiken Thoroughbreds made off with a 65-45 victory thanks in part to Simpkins, who went 9 of 19 on his way to 22 points. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Issac Elliott, who posted 12 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Gilbert still got an impressive performance from Tytrell Smith, who had 18 points. Trevon Williamson was another key player, putting up ten points.

South Aiken's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14. As for Gilbert, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season.

South Aiken has already played their next game (against North Augusta), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Gilbert didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-36 defeat against Midland Valley on the 4th.
