Basketball Game Preview: Pueblo Warriors vs. Flowing Wells Caballeros

The Pueblo Warriors will challenge the Flowing Wells Caballeros at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pueblo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.1 points per game this season.

Flowing Wells will be up against a hot Pueblo team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Pueblo blew past Buena 70-44 on Tuesday. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Colts are ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

America Cazares was her usual excellent self, going 13 for 23 on her way to 31 points and seven steals. Her evening made it 17 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Galindo, who went 7 of 14 en route to 15 points and five steals.

Pueblo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Flowing Wells, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They strolled past Cienega with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 50-35.

Flowing Wells pushed their record up to 18-6 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for Pueblo, their win bumped their record up to 20-3.

Things could have been worse for Pueblo, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-45 loss to Flowing Wells in their previous meeting two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Flowing Wells' Nevaeh Urenda, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. Now that Pueblo knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
