Basketball Recap: Fort Lauderdale Extends Winning Streak to Three

Fort Lauderdale waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-58 victory over the Long County Blue Tide. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Flying L's have posted since January 16, 2024.

Fort Lauderdale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rawle Farose led the charge by going 6 of 8 en route to 19 points along with six boards and three blocks. Those 19 points gave Farose a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adler Olweean, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points and four steals.

Zyi'Air Holt and Jy'Son Mallard certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Holt went 9 of 19 on his way to 25 points and five rebounds, while Mallard went 6 of 9 on his way to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Christopher Hatfield, who posted two points and seven boards.

Fort Lauderdale is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Long County, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Fort Lauderdale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-52 victory against Ocoee on the 28th. As for Long County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 74-59 defeat against Monroe on the 28th.
