The Sandusky Blue Streaks will head out to face off against the Mansfield Senior Tygers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Sandusky's win against Waite wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Streaks skirted past the Indians 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Streaks have posted since April 7th.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mansfield Senior). They never let Rogers get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Joshua Malone made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Mansfield Senior is 2-1 when Malone posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, Mansfield Senior got a massive performance out of Peyton Page, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Page a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Tanner, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Mansfield Senior always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win was the third in a row for Mansfield Senior, bringing their record up to 7-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sandusky, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Sandusky might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Mansfield Senior in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Blue Streaks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
