Basketball Recap: Seton Catholic Central Starts Season with Victory at Home

Seton Catholic Central took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 98-36 victory over the Horseheads Blue Raiders. The Saints have beaten the Blue Raiders the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Blue Raiders has come to flipping the script.

Seton Catholic Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Liam Kozel out in front who shot 80% from the field en route to 21 points and five steals. Those 21 points gave Kozel a new career-high. Brian Dempsey was another key player, going 8-for-13 to rack up 20 points and five steals.

Seton Catholic Central and Horseheads will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Saints are set to challenge their familiar foe Owego Free Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Horseheads will square off against rival Ithaca at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
