The Rawlins County Buffaloes have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Decatur Community on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Rawlins County has scored all season.
Rawlins County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Abby Micek, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Micek is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Camden Franklin was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Rawlins County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Decatur Community's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brylee Minnick, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jenna Fortin, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Rawlins County's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Decatur Community, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.
Rawlins County will be playing at home against Logan on Tuesday. As for Decatur Community, they will head out on the road to challenge Wallace County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
