Two dominant signal callers in Andres Villarreal and Noah Farris are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Eagle Pass Eagles will face off against the Harlan Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Eagle Pass comes in on three and Harlan on ten.
Eagle Pass can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 48-14 victory over Del Rio at home.
Villarreal continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 375 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 80 yards on only five carries. Villarreal is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Wilfredo Frausto also helped out as he racked up 102 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Harlan earned a 21-14 win over Taft last Thursday. Given Harlan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Taft is ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Farris, who threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns. Harlan also got help from Payton Matthews who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.
Harlan's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Nathaniel Tealer and Ronnell Cunningham who racked up five sacks between them.
Eagle Pass pushed their record up to 7-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.8 points per game. As for Harlan, their win bumped their record up to 10-0.
