Moon Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Moon Valley Rockets and the Thunderbird Titans will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Moon Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
Even though Yuma scored an imposing 60 points, Moon Valley still came out on top. Moon Valley managed a 65-60 win over Yuma. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 22 to 7 on the offensive boards, as Moon Valley did.
It was another big night for Damion Miller-Coleman, who scored 26 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddie Boone, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Thunderbird was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 45-39 to Paradise Honors. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Thunderbird has scored all season.
The victory got Moon Valley back to even at 8-8. As for Thunderbird, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.
Moon Valley might still be hurting after the 78-56 defeat they got from Thunderbird in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Moon Valley was down 46-25.
