The Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Elyria Catholic Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Lake Catholic on Monday. The Lions blew past the Cougars 12-2. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

In other batting news, Bella Wooke was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sadie Wurm, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday Elyria Catholic's undefeated season almost came to an end. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Holy Name.
Harper Morgan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jessica Conner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Ciryak, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Elyria Catholic pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Elyria Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin came up short against Elyria Catholic when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 8-4. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
