Baseball Recap: Munster Wins Going Away Against Lowell

After only two runs in their last matchup, Munster made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lowell on Tuesday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Red Devils. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Carter Dumaresq tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zach Wright, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Munster: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Nate Southwell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Munster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lowell only posted an OBP of .333.

Munster now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Lowell, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Munster will challenge Crown Point at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lowell, they will face off against Rensselaer Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils are facing the Bombers at the right time seeing as the Bombers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
