Skyview hasn't had much luck against Billings Senior recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Broncs at 3:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Skyview is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Montana's top teams: Russell, who was ranked 11th at the time (Skyview was ranked 24th). The Falcons fell just short of the Rustlers by a score of 16-15 on Saturday.
Ella Martin stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ruby Sheridan, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Billings Senior). They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over Great Falls on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Broncs in their matchups with the Bison: they've now won six in a row.
Rayvin Fisher tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Soraya Shirley was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braella Jennings, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Billings Senior kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.
The win got Billings Senior back to even at 8-8. As for Skyview, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Skyview's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Billings Senior, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Skyview continue to outrun the ball?
Skyview couldn't quite finish off Billings Senior in their previous meeting back in April and fell 8-6. Will the Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
