The Weld Central Rebels pushed their score all the way to 67 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 91-67 loss at the hands of Resurrection Christian. Weld Central has not had much luck with Resurrection Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Weld Central still got an impressive performance from Tyler Branch, who scored 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Branch has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Pevler, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Resurrection Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Graham Riggs, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Riggs scored 15 or more points. Jacob Barker was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Weld Central has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Resurrection Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.
Weld Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Berthoud at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Berthoud has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 218 points over their last three games. As for Resurrection Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. University is coming into the game with three straight victories at home, meaning Resurrection Christian will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
