The Mart Panthers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took down Chilton 38-24 on Friday. The win was just business as usual for Mart, who after 15 games remain undefeated this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mart to victory, but perhaps none more so than De'Montrel Medlock, who rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 180 yards and a touchdown on only 11 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jd Bell, who rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns.
Chilton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Redd, who threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Markeydrick Taylor, who picked up 200 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Mart's victory bumped their record up to 15-0. As for Chilton, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-2.
Mart will square off against Albany at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Albany will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Chilton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
