Upcoming Drama
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm (5th in the power rankings) and Hillsboro/Central Valley (2nd). Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. Hillsboro/Central Valley and Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Hillsboro/Central Valley with six and Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm with five), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
Big Showdown
The battle between Shanley (ranked 4th in the power rankings) and St. Mary's Central (ranked 7th) turned out to be a fierce competition. Shanley came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Mary's Central, sneaking past 17 - 14. The outcome was a definite jolt of excitement for Shanley after its previous game, where the margin was anything but close.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Minot (6th in the power rankings) and Century (12th). Minot was able to grind out a solid victory over Century, winning 27 - 19. Century had come in flaunting an aggressive defense allowing an average of only 6.2 points per game, but that obviously didn't scare off Minot.
Can't Touch This
Beulah has been an offensive powerhouse for six straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It put the hurt on Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart] with a conclusive 70 - 3 victory. At 67 points, that marked Beulah's largest margin of victory so far this year. Derek Ferebee deserves a lot of credit in the win. He rushed for 116 yards and threw for three touchdowns, a performance good enough to make him one of the top players in the power rankings last week.
