The Socastee Braves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight defeat. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marion. Socastee was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Marion apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the defeat, Socastee saw an underclassman step up: Bri Smith almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Paige Bailey was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Socastee has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 17 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Marion, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-9.
Socastee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Marion also has no future games currently scheduled.
