Silver Stage is on an eight-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and West Wendover a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Silver Stage Nighthawks will welcome the West Wendover Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Silver Stage came up short against Sierra Lutheran on Saturday, falling 20-11.
Silver Stage got a massive performance out of Julieta Munoz, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases were Munoz's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Chavez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, West Wendover fell victim to Battle Mountain and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 20-0 to the Longhorns, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
West Wendover saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yaraitzi Bermejo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
West Wendover's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Silver Stage, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Silver Stage has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. However, it's not like West Wendover struggles in that department as they've averaged .584. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Silver Stage came up short against West Wendover when the teams last played back in April of 2025, falling 30-26. Will the Nighthawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
