Olivia Dollard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gianna Galarza, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Julie Galarza was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Meanwhile, everything went South San Francisco's way against Design Tech on Friday as South San Francisco made off with a 17-2 win.
Sydney Semans made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.
In other batting news, Miley Salvatore was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Keira Crutchfield, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
South San Francisco always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Design Tech only posted an OBP of .389.
St. Ignatius College Preparatory's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for South San Francisco, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
South San Francisco's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday.
