Basketball Recap: Omar Krenbeh Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat San Ysidro

Mar Vista hadn't done well against San Ysidro recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Mar Vista Mariners walked away with a 67-60 victory over the San Ysidro Cougars. For the Mariners, this counts as revenge for the 91-42 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2020.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mar Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Omar Krenbeh, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. What's more, Krenbeh also racked up three steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jahaziel Catano, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.

Despite the loss, San Ysidro still got an impressive performance from Jordan Miranda, who posted 19 points and five assists. Miranda continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Gael Hernandez was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Mar Vista pushed their record up to 8-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for San Ysidro, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Mar Vista has already played their next game (against Hilltop), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. San Ysidro will welcome Mount Miguel at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
