The Wilson Prep Tigers struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Northwest Halifax Vikings had 23 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wilson Prep received a tough blow as they fell 62-44 to Northwest Halifax. Wilson Prep has struggled against Northwest Halifax recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Wilson Prep saw an underclassman step up: Nakiya Boston scored 17 points. Boston continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Braswell, who scored four points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Tatyanna McGee was a one-man wrecking crew for Northwest Halifax as she scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McGee has scored all season. Camaya Adkins was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
Wilson Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Northwest Halifax, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Greenfield at 4:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Greenfield is coming into the contest with four straight defeats on the road, so Wilson Prep is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Northwest Halifax, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rocky Mount Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Halifax is facing Rocky Mount Prep at the right time seeing as Rocky Mount Prep is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
