Riley Winters was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Norah Ranaudo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sophia Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Foundation Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Lakeland Christian came out on top against Seffner Christian on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Vikings were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Crusaders. Considering the Vikings have won nine games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Paityn Donalson, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Presley Young was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Foundation Academy pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lakeland Christian, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
Lakeland Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Foundation Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Lakeland Christian, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Foundation Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Vikings will need to find a way to close that gap.
Foundation Academy took their victory against Lakeland Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
