After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tuslaw, Northwestern was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Rootstown Rovers 11-4. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Taylor Wurst spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, Coralyn Hall was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Cuber, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Northwestern has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Rootstown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.
