Rushville can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They breezed by the Knightstown Panthers to the tune of 64-32. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Rushville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Owen Zachery, who went 5 of 9 en route to 16 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Zachery a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Clayton Chase, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Zachery wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Rushville was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Derius Moore, who posted two points along with five boards, four blocks, and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brant Ellis, who had eight points.
Rushville's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12. As for Knightstown, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Rushville will venture away from home to square off against South Dearborn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
