Basketball Recap: Lou Donnelly's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Canterbury over Foundation Christian Academy

On Friday, the Canterbury Crusaders were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 65-60 to the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Canterbury's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lou Donnelly, who went 5 for 11 en route to 18 points and four steals. That's the most points Donnelly has posted since back in December of 2024. Roman Wilder was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Foundation Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Calvin Griffin, who posted 19 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Griffin has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Hagan, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds.

Canterbury's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Foundation Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-12.

Canterbury has already played their next matchup (against Lakeside Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Foundation Christian Academy will square off against Cambridge Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Foundation Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
