Even though the Silver Creek Raptors have not done well against the Longmont Trojans recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Silver Creek came out on top against Longmont by a score of 52-44. Given Silver Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Longmont is ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Silver Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabe Selby, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Luke Schmeeckle was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Longmont's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Lombrano, who scored 13 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolby Holmes, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Silver Creek is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Longmont, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.
Silver Creek will take on Greeley West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Greeley West is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Longmont, they will head out on the road to take on Centaurus at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centaurus is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
