Softball Recap: Mallard Creek Has No Trouble Against Chambers

While Mallard Creek put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Chambers. The Mavericks were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Cougars. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mavericks yet this season.

Alondra Rivera-Maldonado made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rivera-Maldonado was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, Mallard Creek let Mena Kuzara and Makaila Murray run wild. Kuzara went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Murray scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Murray has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Joanna Brito, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Mallard Creek's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-7. As for Chambers, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mallard Creek will host East Mecklenburg at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mavericks will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Chambers, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Mecklenburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
