Two dominant signal callers in Jorge Luna and Xavier Gonzalez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The United Longhorns will head out on the road to square off against the Medina Valley Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
United is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 48-10 victory over Del Rio. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Rams are ranked 768th) , the win on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Colt Lozano had another great game (as he tends to do), picking up 152 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. His receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 108 receiving yards. United also got help from Jesse Garcia-Perez, who showed off his sure hands for 114 receiving yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to United's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Eric Hernandez, Dariel Trevizo, and Humberto Salas, who each picked up one sack apiece. Hernandez was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Medina Valley earned a 30-20 win over Alexander on Friday.
Medina Valley's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for United, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: United has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 318 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Medina Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 92.6 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
United beat Medina Valley 27-20 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Longhorns since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
