Volleyball Recap: Houston Falls Short Against Ranked Collierville

Houston faced Collierville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 3-2. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Houston took Collierville into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 16-25, 15-12.

Houston's loss came despite strong showings from Lindsey Baker and Ansley Pardue. Baker had 15 digs and four assists, while Pardue had 27 assists and three digs. Pardue is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Houston and nudges their season record down to 15-11. As for Collierville, they pushed their record up to 14-6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Houston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Lakeland Preparatory on the 17th. As for Collierville, they have also already played their next game, a 0-0 victory against Cordova on the 15th.
