West Bend West has won three straight games at home, while Fond du Lac has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Spartans will host the Cardinals at 3:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Saturday.
West Bend West is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Cedarburg 13-3 on Friday. While the Spartans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-24), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
West Bend West got a great performance from Maddex Welzien as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Ryan Rose was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Brody Renk was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.
Meanwhile, Fond du Lac won against Oshkosh North on Thursday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Everything went the Cardinals' way against Lomira as they made off with a 12-4 victory. Considering the Cardinals have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Jack Brenner, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Demos, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
West Bend West is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Fond du Lac, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
West Bend West suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Fond du Lac in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Spartans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
