The Hamilton/Warsaw Titans''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 44-32 to Mercer County. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Several Titans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Grothaus, who threw for 327 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Nolan Gooding, who picked up 172 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Hamilton/Warsaw's loss was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Knoxville and 9-3 Farmington (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55.6% over those games). As for Mercer County, the win was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Hamilton/Warsaw does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mercer County will head out on the road to face off against Wilmington at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wilmington is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
