Hillsborough is 0-3 against the Cougars since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hillsborough Terriers will take on the Durant Cougars at 8:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, Hillsborough gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 59-34 margin over Spoto. Hillsborough pushed the score to 55-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Spartans cut but never quite recovered from.
Deana Epps was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points. She hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellayna Stephens, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Durant scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Tampa Bay Tech on the road to the tune of 67-22. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for Durant this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Durant to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mikaiah Hallback, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Hallback is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Icyss Lopez, who scored 20 points along with four steals.
Hillsborough is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Durant, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-10.
Hillsborough came up short against the Cougars in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 55-48. Can Hillsborough avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
