The Bucktail Bucks will finish 2023 at home by hosting Weatherly at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bucktail has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 228 points over their last four games.
Bucktail pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Curwensville. While losing is never fun, Bucktail can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while Curwensville is ranked 275th).
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Weatherly, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 71-46 walloping at the hands of Marian Catholic on Monday.
Despite the loss, Weatherly saw an underclassman step up: Corbin Wagner scored 22 points. Wagner scored a full 47.8% of Weatherly's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ian Mckeegan was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six assists.
Bucktail now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Weatherly, their defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6.
