South Pointe extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-1. They put the hurt on the A.C. Flora Falcons with a sharp 35-12 victory. The matchup was close at halftime, but the Stallions turned on the heat in the second half with 21 points.
It was another big night for R.J. Brown, who rushed for 140 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries. Another player making a difference was Dailan Duncan, who picked up 170 receiving yards.
South Pointe's run defense was locked in: A.C. Flora could only muster three yards per carry. While two picked up at least eight total tackles, Darien Judge stood above the rest. He forced one fumble, made eight total tackles, and defended eight passes. South Pointe didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.6.
South Pointe's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. In that department, Brysen Ginn was the leader with two. Another thorn in A.C. Flora's side was Judge, who forced one fumble, made eight total tackles, and defended eight passes.
Having lost for the first time this season, A.C. Flora fell to 4-1. They were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than 31 points in the three games prior), but South Pointe's defense proved too tough.
Charlie Scott and Roper Wentzky certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Scott picked up 82 receiving yards and one TD, while Wentzky threw for 206 yards and one touchdown. Scott was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 61 yards.
South Pointe will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Camden at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. As for A.C. Flora, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 27-6 win against York on the 26th.
