Six Rivers recap October 1, 2013
Pecatonica/Argyle extended the longest winning streak in Six Rivers this week by beating Cassville, 26-19. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Black Hawk moved up to 81 from 117 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Warriors were able to move up by defeating Potosi 46-8.
Shullsburg's dynamic duo of Brett Matye and Brant Gille proved tough for Highland to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Matye threw for 179 yards and 2 touchdowns and Gille had 132 yards receiving. Joey Meyer helped Shullsburg's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 35 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Chieftains' Kyle Kaiser and Chase Kruser have proven to be a lethal combination. Kaiser has thrown for 727 yards this season, while Kruser, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 19 catches for 449 yards. Tanner Sweeney from Black Hawk leads the league in rushing with 844 yards.
The top two teams in Six Rivers will face off this week when first place Pecatonica/Argyle takes on second place Black Hawk.
Benton/Scales Mound IL fell to Belmont 40-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kyle Wienen was a bright spot for the Zephyrs, as he threw for 32 yards and ran for 28 yards in the defeat.
