The Andover Central Jaguars suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Olathe South by a score of 39-37. While losing is never fun, Andover Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Olathe South is ranked 44th).
Despite the defeat, Andover Central had strong showings from Taylin Tabor, who scored 15 points, and Haven Deckinger, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Deckinger hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Andover Central has fallen quite a ways from their 17-6 record last season and are now at 3-6. As for Olathe South, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Andover Central will take on Goddard at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Olathe South, they will head out on the road to take on Shawnee Mission West on Tuesday.
