Mentor has gone a perfect 3-0 against Cleveland Heights recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Cardinals are taking a road trip to face off against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Mentor will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
If Mentor beats Cleveland Heights with 14 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Cardinals blew past Medina 14-8 on Tuesday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Maggie Haydu was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Smalley, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddie Beam-Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mentor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Medina only posted a batting average of .259.
Meanwhile, Cleveland Heights came up short against Shaker Heights on Monday, falling 15-4.
Cleveland Heights saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sheridan Sweeney, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was Sweeney's first of the season.
Mentor's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Cleveland Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mentor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Cleveland Heights struggles in that department as they've averaged .420. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mentor took their victory against Cleveland Heights in their previous meeting on April 7th by a conclusive 10-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
