1A-1 Region I District 4 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Anson extended the longest winning streak in 1A-1 Region I District 4 this week by beating Coleman, 26-9. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Anson moved up to 543 from 583 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers were able to make the jump by beating the Bluecats 26-9.
Stamford's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Bo Wimberly threw for 118 and one touchdown and James Washington had 69 yards receiving. On the ground Wimberly chipped in 96 yards. Isaiah Llewellyn helped Stamford's passing attack out by catching three balls for 40 yards.
The Bulldogs' Hagen Hutchinson and Washington have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hutchinson has thrown for 834 yards this season, while Washington, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 27 catches for 326 yards. Forsan's Brendan Roman leads the league in rushing yards with 389.
Winters and Boys Ranch played the most hotly contested game in 1A-1 Region I District 4 this week, with Winters eventually emerging with a 15-13 victory.
