Sangamon Valley/Tri-City is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Argenta-Oreana a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Sangamon Valley/Tri-City Storm will look to defend their home field against the Argenta-Oreana Bombers at 7:00 p.m.
Sangamon Valley/Tri-City is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Villa Grove on Friday. The Storm and the Blue Devils were almost perfectly matched up, but the Storm suffered a 25-24 defeat. While the Storm didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue Devils 7-3 in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Argenta-Oreana). They breezed past Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] to the tune of 49-9 on Friday. With the Bombers ahead 35-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Argenta-Oreana's win came from a few key players Sangamon Valley/Tri-City will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carter Logue, who rushed for 93 yards and three scores on only six carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Kamryn Stokes was another key player, rushing for 85 yards and one TD on only five carries.
Argenta-Oreana didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Stokes and Tyson Tennin. Stokes got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Argenta-Oreana, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Tennin, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Sangamon Valley/Tri-City's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Argenta-Oreana, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5 record.
Sangamon Valley/Tri-City didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Argenta-Oreana when the teams last played back in September of 2024, but they still walked away with a 20-16 win.
