RUSKIN, Fla. - A big 35-point second quarter helped carry the Hawks to a 49-6 victory over Lennard (Ruskin, Fla.) on Saturday.
Armwood scored on a rushing touchdown, a
Craig Carrington touchdown run, a defensive touchdown, a touchdown run by
Noah Johnson and a touchdown pass by Johnson to
Greg Newton in the quarter.
The lead that AHS took on a touchdown with 7:00 to go in the first quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
With the win the Seffner school extended its winning streak to seven games. Armwood defeated Leto 74-0 last week.
Lennard's lone touchdown came on a pass from undefined to Tre Jones in the second quarter.
The Hawks went into the matchup giving up only 3.8 points per game. The six points that the Longhorns ended with were right around their average of 6.3 coming into the game.
Lennard (0-9) will play a 6A District 8 game against Leto next week, while Armwood (7-0) will take on King also in a 6A District 8 game.
