Softball Recap: Crook County Has No Trouble Against Molalla

Crook County came out on top against Molalla on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Cowboys were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Indians. Considering the Cowboys have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Crook County let Chloe McKenzie and Moriah Riley run wild. McKenzie fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4, while Riley went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four runs gave McKenzie a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Azsmita Pennington, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Crook County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Molalla only managed seven hits.

The win got Crook County back to even at 11-11. As for Molalla, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
