The Springstead Eagles will head out to take on the Citrus Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Citrus will be up against a hot Springstead squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand Hernando an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four matchups.
Not much got past Alivia Miller, who gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Hernando off the board. Miller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Rachel Rivera was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lili Klink, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Springstead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Citrus). They blew past Weeki Wachee 16-0 on Wednesday. With that victory, the Hurricanes brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Bryce Rosier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rosier was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Those runs marked the first that she has scored this season.
In other batting news, Citrus let Makaila Anderson and Maddy Luider run wild. Anderson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Luider went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Anderson has posted since back in March of 2025. Alicia Demott also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
The win got Citrus back to even at 2-2. As for Springstead, their record now sits at 4-0.
Citrus' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Springstead hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. It's a different story for Citrus, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain Springstead's hitters?
Springstead couldn't quite get it done against Citrus when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 5-2. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
